You are Living in a Never Ending Simulated Reality

The Simulation Isn’t Ending. It’s Just Getting Harder to See.

I had thought and even written about hitting the brakes on the PARG I was building . I talked about decommissioning servers, letting domains expire, and walking away from the infrastructure of my own creation. I was frustrated. I was tired. I looked at the stats, the lack of engagement, and the silence from the digital void, and I decided to pull the plug.

But I’ve been thinking. You can’t really “end” an Alternate Reality Gateway. You can only stop feeding it. However, new ideas always pop up. It takes a life of it’s own. And the truth is, the architecture I built, all of the interconnected systems and fragmented lore, is still living a life of it’s own, somewhere, away, in the background. It’s not over. It’s just waiting to see if anyone is actually paying attention, or if we’ve all collectively decided that passive content is the only reality we have left.

The Modern Web vs. The Hunt

I’m bewildered by the state of things. Decades ago, people lived for the rabbit hole. They thrived on the friction of a broken link or a cryptic log file. Now, the internet feels like a conveyor belt of “slop”. AI-generated content and video-essay spoon-feeding content. We’ve become accustomed to having our horror stories and mysteries served to us on a silver platter, fully explained, with no effort required. People watch streaming of others playing games instead of playing themselves. I get it, META content is important, as it shows the thinking process, but we need to be active!

When I build a permanent, interactive space, I’m not just making a game; I’m building a conversation. It requires you to be a participant, not a spectator. The projects I’ve been running were never meant to be a movie you watch while scrolling; they were designed as a living, breathing set of protocols. I wanted a space where 100 — hell, even a handful — of dedicated humans could unravel a genuine mystery. Instead, I’ve spent more energy fighting the noise, the bots, and the apathy of a web that has forgotten how to look for things.

The Real Experiment

Let’s be clear: this project has taken a toll on my energy, time and finances. Managing the technical backbone of administering all the domains, the server infrastructure with all the small bits and pieces, the costs, and the sheer mental weight of maintaining a transmedia narrative for an audience that seems to be asleep at the wheel is exhausting. It’s not like making a polished YouTube video. It’s building a platform from scratch.

But is the “end” the right answer?

The truth behind the concept of harmonizing discordant realities and finding that uncomfortable, hidden knowledge isn’t buried in code. It’s in what’s happening to the internet right now. We are living in a choice. You can let the “bliss” of easy, algorithmic content wash over you, lulling your mind into a comfortable, predictable sleep. Or, you can choose to focus. You can look at the flicker in the screen and realize there is something else there.

It’s Up to You

If I’ve learned anything, it’s that breaking immersion is the new meta. But you have to be willing to do the work. Keeping the lights on forever requires energy and partitipation of a whole community.

I’m still at the helm, for now, but the fate of this project isn’t just in my hands. It’s a permanent gateway, and a gateway only serves a purpose if someone actually walks through it. If you want these stories to continue, if you want the “experiment” to evolve into something more than a ghost site, you have to be the ones to solve the riddles.

The “community” isn’t something I build for you; it’s something you decide to form.

I’m taking a step back to breathe, to minimize the load, and to see if anyone is still there. If you’re out there, and you’re tired of the slop, reach out. The keys are still in the door. Are you going to turn them, or are we all just going to watch the screen go dark?

If you’re real, if you’re active, here’s a wonderful treat for you:
