Structural anonymity for the modern inbox.
PrivacyZen is an open, high-performance email alias and forwarding service engineered to combat behavioral data tracking, corporate profiling, and credential leaks . By generating disposable, secure email aliases on demand, it prevents third parties from correlating a user’s digital identity across the web, keeping personal mailboxes isolated and secure.
💡 Why We Need It
The email address has become the universal tracking cookie of the modern web. Companies use it to build deep, AI-driven profiles of your life, while data breaches regularly expose passwords linked directly to primary inboxes.
PrivacyZen breaks this chain. It allows users to generate unique, isolated aliases for every service they use. If a service leaks your data or starts spamming you, you simply burn that specific alias. Your real identity remains completely untouched and invisible.
⚙️ The Architecture
Built for massive throughput, low latency, and rock-solid reliability, PrivacyZen bypasses the bloat of traditional enterprise mail stacks in favor of a specialized, custom-engineered engine.
- Core Systems: Pure Go (Golang) — Handling core protocol logic, automated SMTP parsing, cryptography, and real-time email routing.
- The Database Breakthrough: 64-way SQLite Sharding. To avoid database lock contentions under heavy write loads without the massive RAM overhead and to avoid complex sharding systems of PostgreSQL/MySQL, the system splits data across 64 independent SQLite shards. This avoids the resource-heavy file-handle overhead of a “one-DB-per-user” model while seamlessly scaling to handle millions of incoming emails.
- Email Protocols: IMAP,DKIM,SMTP,SPF etc.
- Frontend UI: Built using a high-efficiency stack of HTML, HTMX for asynchronous, SPA-like responsiveness without heavy JavaScript frameworks, and styled with a lightweight blend of PicoCSS and custom minimal utility styles.
- Foundational Ecosystem: Engineered on top of the robust core architecture developed for LinSublim and Zenix .
The Privacy Strategy: True digital privacy isn’t about hiding; it’s about structural compartmentalization.
